Massage your Horse or Hound to Happiness!
Welcome to Healthy Horse & Hound Massage
Massage has been used for centuries as a healing art and contributes to the body's ability to function efficiently. Your animal doesn't need to be a "competition" animal to benefit from massage therapy. Muscle pain and injury has many causes; muscle cramps, sprains, strains, soreness or recurring stress injuries can cause dysfunction. These conditions decrease range of motion and flexibility.
All animals can suffer from these symptoms just like humans. The goal of massage therapy is to reduce mental and physical stresses by providing pain free function.
Muscle tightness and/or muscle spasms can cause the following conditions in equines and canines:
Gait changes (limping)
Head tossing
Looking uncoordinated
"Off" for no reason
Tail held differently
Improper leads
Knuckled paws Saddle slipping
Arched back Short extentions
Discomfort Lax tail
Fidgeting constantly
Cribbing
Trouble with urination & Sore back
defecation
Other conditions in equines can be diminished with massage therapy such as colic and "tying up".
Massage therapy relieves tension, relaxes muscle spasms, lengthens connective tissue, improves muscle tone, improves circulation and increases flexibility. Massage therapy is a procedure that is non-invasive, holistic and essential for overall health.
Canine and equine massage therapy is a dedicated sequence and combination of different strokes combined to alleviate pain, speed recovery and enhance emotional well being of the animal. There are many different types of massage and the massage sequence can be adapted to fit the needs of your animal. Massage can prevent future injuries by focusing on the causes of muscle pain.
**Please be aware that some animals may not initially respond well to massage and further massage therapy may be necessary.**
